12,000 flags fill Son Moix for Mallorca Diada

Twelve thousand Mallorca flags turned the stands at Mallorca Son Moix stadium in Palma into a display of island colours on Sunday, minutes before RCD Mallorca faced CE Sabadell. The Consell de Mallorca staged the Diada de Mallorca event with the club. Singer Marga Pocoví performed the anthem “La Balanguera”.

Music and traditional performers take the pitch

The pre-match show mixed live music with entertainment, according to the Consell’s Department of Finance, Innovation and Public Service.

Twenty-five Mallorca Fire Brigade personnel joined dancers from the Mallorca School of Music and Dance, xeremiers and several dimonis groups on the grass. Their display highlighted the island’s cultural traditions and expressions.

Emergency helicopter closes the show

The Consell’s sa Milana emergency-service helicopter then flew above the stadium carrying a large Mallorca flag and the RCD Mallorca crest.

Consell de Mallorca president Llorenç Galmés attended the event and match alongside Rafel Bosch, the councillor for Finance, Innovation and Public Service, and emergency director Joan Fornàs.
