Ibiza disco hotel plan sparks water row

A planned five-star disco hotel in Sant Antoni, Ibiza, is facing demands for answers over water use, outdoor events, traffic and parking. The PSOE opposition group raised the questions on 22 September over the conversion of the former Hotel Stella Maris, which is due to open in 2027. It wants Mayor Marcos Serra to set out exactly what the council has authorised.

Licence questions over pool club and parties

Published information says the hotel will include a 6,000-square-metre pool club and a daily collaboration with a well-known party event.

The PSOE wants Serra to explain what has changed since the licence was granted in 2022 and which activities will be allowed at the site. The party says Sant Antoni needs a more varied tourism offer, rather than a growing number of party-linked events.

It says the public needs to know what role partying will play in the project and what pressure it could place on the municipality.

Water supply, roads and parking in focus

The group is also asking whether activities will take place outdoors and, if so, at what times. It wants figures for yearly water consumption, expected demand in July and August, and confirmation of whether the hotel would rely entirely on the municipal network.

The PSOE says the council must show that local infrastructure can cope with extra demand, particularly in summer, given the municipality's water-resource problems.

It has also sought details of the project's effect on traffic on the Cap Negret road and the approaches to Cala Gració, as well as the parking spaces planned.
