Ibiza dog abandonment case triggers €10,001 fine
A 13-year-old dog found in the Sa Joveria car park in Eivissa, Ibiza, has now been adopted. But Eivissa Town Hall has opened and formally notified an animal-abandonment case carrying a €10,001 fine.
The dog was taken to the Sa Coma centre in 2025. The council said it could not trace the person registered to the animal’s microchip, so it recorded the dog as abandoned and began the sanction process.
This is the 12th animal-abandonment sanction recorded in Eivissa in recent years. Together, the cases amount to €120,000 in fines.
The council has also added a dedicated animal-welfare button to Línea Verde. People who see an animal at risk can report it anonymously and immediately through the service.
