Mallorca drink-driver weaves across Palma ring road

On the Vía de Cintura ring road in Palma, Mallorca, drivers swerve to avoid a car that strays into neighbouring lanes and brakes suddenly on Wednesday. At about 18.50, occupants of two vehicles alert Palma Local Police. A patrol stops the car at kilometre 5 and finds a 30-year-old driver showing clear signs of drinking, police say.
His breath test records 0.45 mg/l, almost twice the permitted administrative limit. Police say traffic is heavy and the driving puts other road users at risk. They investigate a suspected road-safety offence and send the case to the duty court. An authorised driver takes the car, while the 30-year-old must appear in court when summoned.
