Mallorca rape trial over alleged drink spiking in Palma
Palma, Mallorca: A man faces trial on Tuesday, accused of raping a woman after putting an unidentified substance in her drink. The hearing starts at 10.00 before the second chamber of the Balearic Islands Provincial Court. Prosecutors say the alleged attack took place at the man’s home on 19 November 2019.
The woman had gone to the home to buy cocaine, according to prosecutors. They do not say whether the man supplied any. They say he offered her a marijuana joint and a drink, then put a substance in the drink that caused her to lose consciousness.
Prosecutors allege that he raped the woman, filmed the assault and kept the footage on a memory card. They are seeking 13 years and six months in prison and €100,000 in compensation.
