A parcel headed for Ibiza, in the Balearic Islands, contains more than four kilos of drugs: police intercept it before dispatch and arrest its recipients after a supervised delivery. Spain’s National Police reported the operation on 21 October.

Officers in Linares, Jaén province, spotted the suspicious parcel ready to be sent and secured it. With judicial authorisation, they opened it and found 2,885 grams of heat-sealed marijuana buds and 1,400 grams of hashish in tablets.

Under judicial direction, officers arranged for the parcel to reach its destination on Ibiza. National Police officers on the island arrested the recipients when it reached the delivery point. They are suspected of a drug-related offence.

The investigation remains open. Police are trying to establish how far the supply network extends and say further arrests are possible.
