Mallorca drug trial: eight face court over steel-door base
Eight people face trial on Thursday over an alleged drug-dealing base in Palma, Mallorca, fitted with a 5-centimetre steel door. Prosecutors seek a combined 78 years in prison and fines totalling 2.2 million euros. The hearing before the Second Section of the Provincial Court in Palma begins at 10.00.
How the alleged drug outlet worked
Prosecutors say the group dealt mainly in cocaine and cannabis between September 2024 and March 2025. They allege that the accused split the work: one ran the outlet, others sold drugs, one held the money and others warned the group when police were nearby.
The premises had 40-centimetre-thick reinforcement as well as the steel door, according to the prosecution. Inside was a system intended to destroy drugs if police intervened.
What police found
Local Police searched the outlet and two homes belonging to the accused. They found cocaine, cannabis, cash and traces of burnt drugs. Prosecutors put the value of the seized drugs at about 285,000 euros.
The eight face allegations of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation. The court will hear the case on Thursday.
