18 kilos of drugs and 54 laughing gas boxes found in Ibiza
Police have arrested a person after uncovering 54 boxes of laughing gas and about 18 kilos of drugs in a warehouse in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza, on 20 September. The haul included a suitcase packed with bags of different illegal substances. Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Council said the laughing gas — technically known as nitrous oxide — was believed to be intended for distribution and sale.
A patrol had spotted the individual handling the warehouse gate. On seeing officers, the person allegedly acted suspiciously, tried to leave and hid several objects in their trousers.
Officers identified the person and found a padlock and matching key, several balloons used to dispense the gas, and a box containing six gas bottles. With a second patrol, they then searched the warehouse and found the 54 boxes.
While the boxes were being removed, officers discovered the travel suitcase containing the drugs. The council said health rules warn that selling nitrous oxide with equipment that enables inhalation can put consumers' health and safety at risk.
