Eivissa, on Ibiza, is seeking bids to replace lights at 509 streetlight points with LEDs and install traffic cameras at ten sites: the city opened the €372,000 tender on 1 October 2026. Eivissa City Council expects the work to take four months. The new lights are planned for different parts of the city, while the cameras would go at main approaches and other key locations.

Streetlights set to use less power

The council plans to replace older lamps and earlier LED models. It estimates that electricity use at the 509 points will fall by about 30.1 per cent, from 159,910 to around 111,800 kilowatt hours (kWh) a year.

The new lights can be programmed to use less power at certain times while still providing the light needed. Eivissa installed 1,475 new LED streetlights this summer.

Cameras planned for ten traffic sites

Each site would have high-resolution cameras, solar power and batteries, and mobile communications. Artificial intelligence would turn the images into information about traffic flows to help the city manage them.

The systems are meant to work with technology the city already uses and comply with data-protection and video-surveillance rules. Companies can submit bids electronically until 21 October.
