Eivissa market: 30 views, fewer stalls

More than 30 people and groups have submitted views on Eivissa, Ibiza’s proposed new market, with the public consultation open until next week. The plan sets out 75 market stalls across about 1,000 m², compared with 131 stalls across around 850 m² at the current Mercat Nou. Eivissa Town Council says it will assess the submissions after the consultation closes.

The new building is designed with wider aisles to improve movement inside and accessibility. It would also include 30 product-storage units and eight spaces for cold rooms, covering up to 400 m² together.

Plans also set aside 2,318 m² for terraces and another 1,900 m² for complementary activities. The present market site would become a green area linked to Parque de la Paz, while surrounding streets would be calmed and access routes arranged to keep vehicles more separate from green spaces.
