More than 150 people in Calvià, Mallorca, take part in training on emotional wellbeing and ageing on Friday, 2 October. At the fifth event for the Day of Older People, a play puts fear, anger, pain and pleasure on stage. Older people organise and perform it themselves.

The four emotions interact with two older people in the play, ‘Luz, cámara, emoción’, showing how people can deal with them. Psychologist Sabrina Burgos says the aim is to help older people understand emotional wellbeing and manage their feelings so they become a help rather than a barrier, according to Calvià Council.

Opening the event, mayor Juan Antonio Amengual says caring for emotions matters as much as physical health, particularly as people age. After the play, a panel discusses how a workshop on managing emotions could improve quality of life. Illusionist El Gran Cassanyes closes the event with an activity involving the audience.
