Mallorca schools can win a share of €10,000 in green prizes
€10,000 in prizes is on offer for school projects on Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, and across the rest of the islands. The Endesa Foundation opened its awards for student teams and schools on Tuesday, 6 October. Entries close on 30 October.
Two ways to enter
Student teams in compulsory secondary education, upper secondary education and vocational training can enter projects about the shift to cleaner energy. Their ideas must take a broad approach and link to what they study in class. The top two prizes in this category are €2,500 and €2,000.
Whole schools can enter longer-term projects involving their school community. These must bring sustainability together with work alongside local organisations. The prizes are €3,000 for first place and €2,500 for second.
Projects beyond the prizes
Judges have assessed 43 projects from the Balearic Islands in previous rounds, involving 1,593 pupils. Across Spain, the awards have received 1,553 projects involving 49,737 pupils since 2016.
Endesa Educa also offers free workshops at schools, covering subjects such as electricity, energy sources and responsible consumption. Schools can arrange educational visits to Endesa’s renewable-energy facilities, where pupils can see how those sites generate electricity.
