Mallorca energy advice: 16,279 people beat target

Energy advice offices across the Balearics have helped 16,279 people from January to July, passing their target for the whole of 2026. The service had aimed to reach 15,000 people, meaning it has already reached 109% of that goal.

The figures, released on 14 September by the Balearic Ministry of Business, Self-Employment and Energy through the Balearic Energy Institute, cover offices including those in Palma, Mallorca, Inca, Mallorca, and Manacor, Mallorca. Their work has risen 55.6% on the same seven months of 2025, when 10,465 people used the service.

The offices advise households, businesses and town halls on energy bills, grants and the Melib charging-point network. March was their busiest month, with 2,739 users, while 7,986 people received direct assistance — an 82.2% rise on a year earlier.

Grants and bills drive demand

Since the service began, the Offices for the Energy Transition of the Balearics, known as Oteib, have dealt with 22,295 enquiries. Private individuals made 90% of them. Of all consultations, 57% took place in person, 26% were by telephone and 17% by email.

Grants account for 68% of enquiries, from applying for funding to following up cases. The offices have managed 2,713 grant files, mainly for solar-panel installations and electric mobility. Payments have already reached beneficiaries in 1,276 cases, with approved aid totalling €4.67 million.

They have also reviewed 109 energy bills, identifying potential combined savings of €7.36 million, according to the ministry. A further 51 solar-installation studies point to 398 kWp of potential capacity, 575,335 kWh of renewable energy each year and estimated annual savings of €58,685. The installations assessed could avoid 200 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

Six fixed offices and a travelling service

The network has six permanent offices: Palma, Inca and Manacor on Mallorca, plus Ciutadella, Eivissa and Formentera. Its travelling office has already visited 41 municipalities.

Oteib has also processed 238 applications for the social electricity discount, with 132 accepted. The service has delivered 223 technical-assistance jobs for municipalities and handled 302 requests or tasks from local administrations, including work on electricity supplies, solar power, grants and energy efficiency.
