Ibiza pupils: 31.5% had energy drinks in 30 days
On the island of Ibiza, 31.5% of pupils surveyed say they had an energy drink in the past 30 days. The Ibiza Island Council’s Centre for Studies and Prevention of Addictive Behaviour (Cepca) reported the finding on 28 September 2026. Its study questioned 3,117 pupils at 18 schools — 36.4% of the total pupil population.
Energy drinks are familiar to far more of those surveyed: 72.3% have tried them. The average age at first use is 12.3 years, and 63.6% say their family allows them to drink them.
Smoking and cannabis use fall
The picture is different for tobacco. Some 81.5% say they have never smoked, up from 67.5% in 2022 and 59.9% in 2018.
For cannabis, 86.1% say they have never used it, compared with 76.7% in 2022. The share who used it in the past 30 days fell from 9.8% in 2022 to 4.9%.
Alcohol and vapes remain in the picture
Alcohol is still the most-used recreational substance in the study apart from energy drinks. The average age at first use is 13.3 years. Just over half of those surveyed, 51%, say they have never been drunk. Among those who drink alcohol, 56.6% say their family allows it.
Vapes rank third for use. In the past 30 days, 14.9% of pupils had vaped; of those, 68.6% used vapes containing nicotine. Nearly half of pupils think vaping is not dangerous, while only two in 10 consider energy drinks fairly or very dangerous. Three-quarters say their family has talked to them about drugs.
