FEHM said the British honour recognised Escarrer’s long-standing ties and work with the UK market, which it described as vital to both Mallorca and Spain. It also linked the distinction to efforts to raise tourism standards and reshape the destination’s position.

The federation said tourism should extend beyond welcoming arrivals, encompassing visitors’ welfare, information, prevention and confidence. It highlighted cooperation with the British Embassy in Madrid and the British Consulate in Palma.

FEHM also pointed to the #StickWithYourMates campaign, which encourages young British holidaymakers to look after friends and enjoy their trips safely and responsibly. The federation described tourism as an area in which countries can share responsibility and build enduring relationships.
