Balearics back farming law to secure rural future

The Balearic government approved a draft farming law on Friday, with president Marga Prohens presenting the move in Menorca. The proposal aims to strengthen farming as a sector for today and the future. It also seeks to encourage diversification and sustainability.
Prohens called the approval one of the milestones of the legislature’s final year. She said she hoped the law would help the fight against climate change and support the future of the archipelago.
“This is not a law of the sector; it is a law for the sector,” Prohens said. She said the draft had been drawn up in agreement with farming representatives.
