On Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, farmers can apply for fertiliser aid worth up to €176 per hectare. The Balearic Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment published the €1.5 million scheme on Thursday, 5 November 2026, with applications closing on 27 November. It aims to ease fertiliser costs driven up by the war in the Middle East.

Irrigated land qualifies for €176 per hectare and land without irrigation for €67 per hectare. The aid covers fertiliser costs from 1 March 2026 to the application deadline.

Which farmland qualifies

Farm operators must be registered in the Balearic Islands’ register of agricultural holdings and meet the scheme’s other conditions. These include rules on priority farm status and receipt of certain Common Agricultural Policy payments for 2025 or 2026. Separate provisions apply to farms on Formentera, in the Balearic Islands.

Arable land and permanent crops count towards the payment; fallow land and pasture do not. Each applicant can claim for no more than 300 hectares, with a maximum payment of €50,000. Payments below €100 will not be made.

Deadline and reduced rates

Farmers who have already received state aid for higher fertiliser costs can still apply. Their rate will be reduced by €38.33 per hectare of land without irrigation and €92.50 per hectare of irrigated land.

Applicants must submit the documents required by the scheme published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands by 27 November 2026. Applications will be handled under an urgent procedure, with each payment decided after administrative checks.
