Ibiza ferries bring 17,703 fewer vehicles in 2026
Ibiza sees 17,703 fewer vehicles come off ferries between June and September 2026 than in the same months of 2024, before vehicle limits began. The Ibiza Island Council says 91,754 vehicles arrived as ferry passenger traffic, down from 109,457 — a fall of 16.2%.
Cars account for much of the drop. Their arrivals fell from 96,332 to 81,572, or 14,760 fewer. Compared with 2024, car arrivals were down 18.1% in July and 19.3% in August. Mariano Juan, the council’s first vice-president, says those are the months when Ibiza faces the greatest pressure on its roads. He sees the figures as evidence that the vehicle limits are working.
Public transport recorded 4.9 million passengers between April and August, up 26.4% on a year earlier. The council also counted 1,282 caravans arriving from January to September, against 4,467 in the same period of 2024. Juan says Mallorca and Menorca are moving towards similar ways to manage traffic.
