Figueretes venue sealed over faulty doors and lights

A venue in Figueretes, Eivissa, has been sealed after inspectors found faulty doors, failed emergency lights and music above the conditions allowed for the business. Eivissa Local Police took the action during inspections carried out on the previous night. The town hall announced the closure on 25 September.

The premises on Calle Navarra cannot reopen until the faults have been put right. Inspectors found that its entrance and exit doors were not working properly, including the emergency-release systems. The electrical panel was also not correctly marked.

Some emergency lights in the toilets did not work and lacked the required signs. The music also exceeded the conditions set out in the venue's operating documents.

The town hall said the premises had already drawn numerous complaints from neighbours. Local Police carried out the inspection with municipal environment and activities technicians, as well as Customs officers.

Two other checks find no breaches

The operation covered three businesses in all: on Calle Navarra, Calle Formentera and Passeig de Vara de Rey. A drinks shop on Calle Formentera had no irregularities in its paperwork or products, according to municipal technicians and Customs officers.

At a premises on Passeig de Vara de Rey, a municipal technician measured noise from a nearby home using a sound meter. The first check did not show levels above the limit, but the data still has to be analysed before a final result is issued. Customs officers found no incidents there either.
