Mallorca fireworks: Manacor bans use without a permit

In Manacor, Mallorca, anyone setting off firecrackers, rockets or strings of bangers on 30 and 31 October needs council permission. The rule covers the All Saints’ celebrations, and local police will step up patrols overnight from 31 October to 1 November. The town council says it is especially concerned about fireworks that disturb neighbours, disrupt the use of public spaces or put people at risk.

Officers have visited shops selling fireworks to check they follow the rules and remind sellers that sales to minors are banned. They can immediately remove and hold any fireworks that could endanger people or property.

The council also warns that the noise of explosions can leave animals stressed, frightened and disoriented. It has asked people to avoid behaviour that could harm animals or affect those especially sensitive to the noise. The extra police patrols are intended to enforce the rules and prevent incidents.
