Balearics gain 21 firms but lose €22m in turnover

The Balearic Islands gained 21 companies between April and June 2026, as 64 moved their registered address to the archipelago and 43 moved to other autonomous communities. The balance is positive in company numbers, but the moves cost the islands €22 million in turnover. The figures come from a study on company address changes by a Cesce subsidiary.

The previous year’s second quarter also ended in the black, with a gain of 17 companies — four fewer than this year.

Madrid was the main destination for companies leaving the Balearic Islands, taking 39.5%. Andalusia received a further 21%. Of the businesses moving in, 36% came from Catalonia and 33% from Madrid.

The Balearic Islands rank fourth among Spain’s autonomous communities for incoming companies, level with the Canary Islands on 21. They trail Andalusia with 42, the Valencian Community with 33 and Madrid with 27.

Since 2021, the Balearic Islands, Madrid and the Canary Islands have recorded the most quarters with a positive company balance. Catalonia has added companies in only one quarter over the same period.
