Spain is offering €9.9 million in diesel aid to nearly 4,500 fishing boat owners: they have until Monday, 19 October, to report errors or provide bank details. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food published the list of potential recipients on Friday, 9 October. Those owners have more than 4,800 fishing vessels between them.

The aid covers diesel used from 1 May to 30 June, the second period in a scheme meant to offset higher fuel costs caused by the crisis in the Middle East. Costs remain eligible until 31 December, but the ministry is handling payments in shorter periods so owners can receive the money sooner and keep working.

Owners can also decline the aid by 19 October. The list is on the ministry’s website.

Another payment is planned in the coming days for the first period, from 22 March to 30 April. Most of that aid, worth €3.2 million, was paid in August.
