Mallorca's Playa de Palma race adds a 5km run
At Playa de Palma on Mallorca, runners can take on a new five-kilometre race on 8 November. It joins a 21-kilometre half marathon, a ten-kilometre race and a children's race at the sixth International Running Course. Organisers say the new distance is for people accompanying other runners who want to take part themselves.
The children's race starts at 09.30, with the other races due to begin at 10.00. Children who finish will receive a medal. Organisers plan to award 90 prizes across the distances and categories. The prizes and gifts together are valued at 30,000 euros.
A share of entry fees will go to the Palma Aquarium Foundation to help care for and protect Mediterranean sea turtles. Registration is open on the organisers' website until 7 November. Runners can collect their race numbers that day from 16.00 to 19.00 outside San Fernando parish church in Palma, Mallorca.
