Mallorca flash flood kills Felanitx woman, 63
A 63-year-old woman has died after a flash flood swept her away as she travelled to work in Felanitx, Mallorca, during Wednesday’s severe weather. The town hall held a minute’s silence on Friday and ended its official day of mourning. The incident happened at about 15.00 on Bellpuig street.
People who found the woman on the ground, unconscious and in cardiac arrest, called emergency services. Witnesses began CPR before 061 ambulance staff and a local doctor arrived and continued the attempt to revive her. They could only confirm her death.
The Guardia Civil’s early view is that she may have slipped or tripped while walking in the street. Officers believe she then drowned in the heavy rain.
The Judicial Police team of the Guardia Civil in Manacor has taken over the investigation and gathered evidence at the scene. Felanitx Local Police also attended.
