Balearics tax bills: 2,279 choose when to pay

Taxpayers across the Balearic Islands are splitting tax bills or paying them early through a flexible online system. By 7 August 2026, 2,279 people had signed up with the Balearic Islands Tax Agency, known as ATIB. They had made 4,047 payments worth €531,924 since the scheme began on 2 April 2025.

The system lets people choose how much to pay and when during the voluntary payment period. They can clear a bill in one go, make part-payments or pay some or all of it in advance.

Bills covered by the scheme

The option applies to regular municipal bills collected by notice, including property tax, business activity tax and vehicle tax. It also covers local charges for rubbish collection and treatment, water, sewerage and dropped kerbs.

ATIB collects these taxes in 53 municipalities across the islands. The scheme can also be used for the regional tourist-stay tax on holiday homes and tourist campsites.

On Mallorca, ATIB also collects the Consell Insular de Mallorca charge for annual registration of private hunting grounds. The Mancomunidad de Migjorn de Mallorca water-supply charge is also among the bills it manages.

Payments managed online

People can manage flexible payments through the ATIB’s Virtual Postman service on its electronic platform. They can log in with an ATIB taxpayer code, a digital certificate, electronic identity card or Cl@ve.

For bills not paid by direct debit, users can make one full payment, add money in instalments or pay early. They can also arrange for payments to be taken from a bank account.

The service sits alongside other ATIB digital payment options, including Bizum.
