Palma’s Fontsana care home: Three posts lie vacant

Up to three care posts are unfilled at Fontsana care home in Son Armadams, Palma, this September. Workers at the home had already raised the staffing shortfall in August. The USAE union said on Wednesday that the warning came from the staff themselves.

USAE also corrected the number of people living at the home. It said there were 142 residents on 25 August 2026, rather than the 150 reported during the summer, following a request from the company.

The company told the union that it had hired several staff in the preceding months, but also acknowledged up to three vacancies in September. It says it meets the staffing ratio for care workers, while USAE argues that the empty posts point to a recruitment shortfall.

On meals, USAE said the company cited positive feedback forms on the menus it provides.
