Mallorca food project links three regions with €45,000
A €45,000 food project in Palma, Mallorca, links training centres in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Occitania, France: students and teachers share cooking skills from 6 to 8 October. Their first gathering includes a hands-on session devoted to ensaimada. The Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion said on Friday that professionals and others also took part in the event.
Mallorcan produce takes the table
Students and teachers learned about traditional Balearic dishes through cooking classes. On Wednesday, Balearic president Marga Prohens met them and sampled produce at a display open to the public. Mallorcan producers brought pastries, cured meats, wine and cheese.
The programme also featured cocktail and cooking demonstrations from the three regions. On the final day, participants visited Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa on Mallorca, as well as a business making ice cream from local produce.
Two more meetings to come
The project, called ‘AMI Gastronomie: Saborea la cooperación’, connects the Escuela de Hotelería de Baleares, the Centro de Formación Profesional Integrada de Barcelona and GRETA-CFA Aude-Pyrénées-Orientales. It aims to help the centres share knowledge and build ties through food. Its €45,000 budget covers a programme running from January 2026 to June 2027.
Palma hosts the first of three planned gatherings. The next is scheduled for 1 to 3 February in Argelers de la Marenda, France, followed by Barcelona from 15 to 17 March.
