A €1.84 million overhaul is under way at the municipal football ground in Sant Antoni de Portmany on Ibiza: its stands need major repairs after serious structural faults came to light. Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Council announced the start of work on 23 October 2026 and says the contract allows eight months for the job.

The ground was built between 1987 and 1988. The council considered several options with local football clubs before choosing to refurbish both the stands and the changing rooms.

Workers will strengthen the stands, repair damaged sections and add waterproofing. The job also covers the cafeteria structure, access and fire safety, as well as new electrical, telecommunications, water, drainage, ventilation, gas and sound systems. The council says the work should make the ground safer and bring it into line with current building rules.
