Foreign workers make up 26.68% of Balearics jobs

Foreign workers now account for 26.68% of all Social Security registrations in the Balearic Islands, the highest share anywhere in Spain. The islands added 2,566 foreign workers in August, a monthly rise of 1.41%. The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration published the figures on Monday.

August rise beats Spanish average

The Balearic increase was ahead of Spain’s overall monthly growth of 1.13%.

Compared with August 2025, the islands gained 22,439 foreign workers. That is a rise of 13.79%, though below the nationwide yearly increase of 15.7%.

Most registered workers are from outside the EU

Of the foreign workers registered with Social Security in the Balearic Islands, 117,473 are from countries outside the European Union. A further 67,661 are from EU countries.

The group includes 104,913 men and 80,222 women. Across Spain, foreign workers make up 15.89% of all Social Security registrations, well below the Balearic Islands’ share.
