Mallorca hotel: 10 arrested over forged work papers
Police arrest ten foreign nationals at a hotel in Santanyí, Mallorca, on suspicion of using forged documents to get work. Spain’s National Police announced the arrests on Tuesday, 27 October, after a joint check with the Labour Inspectorate at the hotel. The ten are suspected of document forgery.
The investigation began after police received information that foreign nationals might be using false documents to work in Spain. Police say the evidence suggests several people entered Spain before obtaining the papers. Third parties allegedly supplied them in return for money. The documents then allowed the holders to show they met the requirements for employment, according to police.
