Formentera health centre: 15 rooms for 15,000 people
A new health centre on Formentera in the Balearic Islands is planned to serve 15,000 people, with 15 consulting rooms beside the island’s hospital. On 2 November 2026, the Balearic Health Service put the building and refurbishment work out to tender. The work has an estimated budget of 4.4 million euros and is expected to take 18 months.
The centre will stand on the same plot as Formentera Hospital, with an internal connection between the two buildings. The plans include 500 square metres of new space and the refurbishment of 270 square metres.
The consulting rooms are intended for family and community medicine and nursing, paediatrics, obstetric and gynaecological nursing, social work and oral healthcare. There will also be a room for staff. The Balearic health ministry says the refurbishment is designed to accommodate expected population growth. The project is part of the Health Service’s 2024–2027 investment plan, which provides for spending of 450 million euros.
