May and October are the focus on the island of Formentera: its council wants more tourists in those months to help steady work for local businesses and staff. On Tuesday 20 October, the Formentera Island Council presented a five-part tourism plan built around better promotion and a better experience for visitors.

Walking is one part of the push. The council wants to develop ways for visitors to discover Formentera’s landscape and heritage along its paths. Sport, food and culture will also get more attention. The plan calls for improvements to the tourism website and its information, as well as new directories.

The plan draws on analysis begun in 2024 and contributions from the private sector. It also covers service quality and how the council and businesses work together. Tourism councillor Artal Mayans says stronger activity in May and October would bring more stability to businesses and workers. The council wants to work more closely with the sector and check how well each measure works.
