As the injured man’s condition worsened, a complaint was filed with the Guardia Civil on Formentera on 26 September. He was taken urgently to Formentera Hospital, then transferred to a hospital in Eivissa with severe head trauma and multiple injuries inside his skull.

After his death, Guardia Civil investigators tried to retrace his movements. A witness identified the suspected attacker, and officers checked his presence and identity through other lines of inquiry. The case file is now with the judicial authorities.
