1,500 free energy kits open to Balearic schools

Balearic primary schools can sign up for a free online energy programme that brings turbines, batteries and cardboard parts into the classroom. Fundación Endesa has opened registration for Endesa Educa Digital for pupils in the third and fourth years of primary school. The first 1,500 teachers to enrol anywhere in Spain will receive an experiment kit for their class.

The energy kits allow children to build materials in class while completing two missions: one on renewable energy and another on sustainable mobility. The online platform combines digital resources with classroom activities. Endesa says the programme also supports teamwork, communication, critical thinking and civic skills.

€2,000 prize for one school

Every school that registers can enter a competition with a €2,000 prize. The winning school can spend the money on equipment or its electrical infrastructure.

Pupils at the winning school will also take part in a classroom learning session led by an expert before the end of the school year.

Nearly 3,400 Balearic pupils reached

Since the programme began in 2019, it has reached nearly 3,400 pupils at 54 schools in the Balearic Islands, according to Endesa. A total of 61 teachers have brought its activities and materials into their lessons.

Across Spain, more than 157,200 pupils from 2,300 schools have taken part since 2019, with the support of more than 2,700 teachers. Endesa Educa Digital forms part of Endesa Educa, an education project that has taught about energy and encouraged energy saving in schools for more than 25 years.

The project also offers free teaching resources online, classroom workshops and visits to Endesa renewable-energy facilities for pupils and teachers.
