Balearic freight firms get €5.3 million in fuel aid
Across the Balearic Islands, freight companies are getting another €5.3 million to help with higher fuel costs. The latest 268 grants were published in the Balearic Islands Official Gazette on Thursday, 15 October 2026. They are part of an aid package approved in April in response to the effects of the war in the Middle East.
€6.2 million paid so far
The latest payment brings the total paid across four rounds to €6.2 million for 617 recipients, according to the Balearic Islands Department of Housing, Territory and Mobility. That includes €553,000 already paid to self-employed freight operators and €393,000 to companies running non-scheduled passenger buses.
More grants in the pipeline
The department has so far given a favourable assessment to 1,285 applications worth nearly €8.2 million. These include 520 taxi grants and 30 for vehicles with drivers.
The Directorate-General for Mobility has also published its first proposed awards for two other schemes: nearly €1.4 million across 50 grants to scrap lorries and buses, and more than €435,000 for 68 applications from companies transporting their own goods. Across all seven schemes, which opened in July, the regional government has received 1,440 applications covering 7,636 vehicles. Nearly €10 million has been set aside for businesses and self-employed workers.
