Ibiza and Formentera: grants for 1,000 fruit trees
On the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, a 35,000-euro fund offers farmers help to plant up to 1,000 fruit trees. The Ibiza & Formentera Preservation foundation opened applications on 29 October 2026, with a deadline of 16 November. The grants aim to boost local production, widen the range of crops and bring unused farmland back into use.
Farmers can receive 35 euros per tree for between 20 and 250 trees on each farm. That puts each grant between 700 and 8,750 euros. Applications that would return unused farmland to cultivation get priority. The foundation will also consider organic growing methods, local varieties and species suited to the Mediterranean climate.
The funding is part of the foundation’s Eivissa y Formentera Siembran Futuro project. Since it began in 2024, the project has funded 1,934 fruit trees on 32 farms across the two islands. Farmers awarded a grant in this round can plant between 1 December 2026 and 15 November 2027, and must keep the trees for at least five years.
