Spain fuel prices fall, but diesel fill-up costs €103.89
Across Spain, a 55-litre diesel fill-up costs €103.89: fuel prices are falling for a second week, but that tank still costs €26.62 more than a year ago. Figures reported on 15 October from the European Union’s Oil Bulletin put the national average at €1.889 a litre for diesel and €1.789 for petrol. They do not give a separate price for Mallorca.
Tax relief helps bring prices down
Petrol is 3.24% cheaper than last week, while diesel is down 1.46%. Since the start of October, petrol has fallen by almost 7.8% and diesel by 4.5%.
The Spanish government’s fuel tax discount is part of the drop. It rose from five to 20 cents a litre for petrol on 1 October. Diesel has had a 20-cent discount since early September.
A full tank still costs more
At the national average, a 55-litre petrol fill-up costs €98.39, or €17.32 more than a year ago. The diesel fill-up is €26.62 dearer than it was then, despite the recent falls.
The tax discount is set to drop to 13 cents a litre in November and six cents in December. If oil prices rise by more than 15%, the 20-cent discount would return in November or December. The national figures offer no indication of how pump prices on Mallorca will change.
