Mallorca drivers: Spain's 55-litre fuel fill tops €106
Mallorca drivers face a costly benchmark: at Spain’s latest average pump prices, a 55-litre fill of petrol or diesel tops €106. The figures run to Monday 28 September, so they do not include the fuel tax relief taking effect on Thursday 1 October. Petrol averages €1.939 a litre and diesel €1.934, according to the European Union’s Oil Bulletin. These are Spain-wide averages, not prices at individual pumps on Mallorca.
A fill costs more than a year ago
At those prices, 55 litres of petrol costs €106.64, about €25 more than a year ago. The same amount of diesel costs €106.37, about €28.7 more.
Petrol rose 0.62% from the previous week, its thirteenth weekly increase in a row. Diesel rose 0.83%, its third consecutive weekly increase.
Tax relief has yet to show in the figures
From October, the fuel tax reduction is 20 cents a litre for both petrol and diesel. Diesel already had that reduction from the start of September; petrol’s returns to that level now.
The reduction is set to fall to 13 cents in November and 6 cents in December. If prices rise by more than 15%, it will return to 20 cents in the month concerned. For now, the published averages cannot show the effect of the October change.
