Palma arrests man over six break-ins and gaming hall raid

A man is under arrest in Palma after police linked him to six alleged break-ins and a hold-up at a gaming hall. Spain’s National Police detained the Spanish man on 20 September. Officers say the gaming hall raid took place on General Riera street in March.

The suspect is alleged to have approached a member of staff and demanded cash from the till, telling her she would not be harmed. Detectives later connected the case with a series of forced entries at businesses across Palma.

Doors and windows damaged

Police say the alleged intruder targeted premises at night, damaging doors and windows to get inside before taking money and other items. A café and a beauty salon were hit on 10 July: a window was broken at the café, while the salon’s entrance door was forced.

Two high-end computers and two tablets were taken from the beauty salon. Police had already arrested another man weeks earlier over that incident.

Cash taken from school sports centre

Investigators also linked the arrested man to a March break-in at a bar on Jaume III street. More than 1,200 euros was stolen from a sports centre belonging to a school in April.

At the time of his arrest, police say the man admitted involvement in two further forced entries: one at a bar in Santa María and another at a beauty salon in Ciudad Jardín, Palma. He is being investigated over six break-ins and the gaming hall hold-up.
