Mallorca Gaza protest: march to Palma cathedral

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

A Gaza protest is set to cross Palma, Mallorca, on Friday, 9 October: the march starts at 19.00 in Plaza de España and heads to the cathedral. Mallorca per Palestina, Ciutadans per Palestina and Global Sumud Movement Baleares have called it to mark the third anniversary of what they describe as the start of the “genocide in Gaza”.

The organisers’ message is that what people accept in Palestine has consequences closer to home. They warn that treating violence and racist views as normal affects life on Mallorca too.

The march will also call for an end to arms trade with Israel and to military, economic and diplomatic ties that the organisers say sustain the violence. It is one of dozens of protests called in cities across Spain by the Solidarity Network Against the Occupation of Palestine.
