Mallorca’s Campanet picks Gelabert for 2027 mayor race
MÉS has chosen architect Maria Gelabert to fight for Campanet Town Hall on Mallorca in the 2027 municipal elections. The 37-year-old was backed unanimously by party members and supporters in a selection process that ended on Thursday, 4 September. She takes over as the party’s candidate after Mayor Guillem Rosselló said he will not stand again.
A new candidate for Campanet
Born in Terrassa, Gelabert has been involved with Campanet through Joves Sa Llengua Bona, the Comissió de Reis and the local board of Obra Cultural Balear.
MÉS says she has accepted the task of leading its ecosovereigntist policies in the municipality. The party was the most voted-for at the last municipal election and wants to keep the mayor’s office.
Gelabert said she was keen to lead the project and continue working for Campanet, this time from the town hall, with the aim of improving the village.
Rosselló will finish his term
Rosselló said his decision not to head the MÉS list in 2027 had been carefully considered after many years in public service. He said it was time to make room for someone else.
He will not leave his current post early, however. Rosselló said he will remain mayor until the final day of the legislative term, with projects still to be completed.
