General strike on 11 November wins 100-plus backers

More than 100 organisations back a general strike on 11 November: the leaders of the CCOO and UGT unions meet representatives of dozens of social groups on Wednesday, 4 November, to discuss the call.
Unai Sordo of CCOO and Pepe Álvarez of UGT will hear the groups’ concerns and discuss the demands behind the strike. Supporters include neighbourhood associations, groups defending public education and healthcare, and environmental and feminist organisations.
The unions and social groups also want to work more closely together to win public support. In the coming days, they plan actions to explain why the strike has been called and encourage more people to back it.
