Mallorca draws 10.14m tourists as German visits dip

Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, draws 10.14 million tourists between January and August 2026, 2% more than a year earlier — but fewer come from Germany. Javier Vich, president of the Mallorca Hotel Federation (Federación Empresarial Hotelera de Mallorca), presents the figures at London’s World Travel Market on 4 November 2026. Germany remains the island’s biggest source of tourists, even as British arrivals rise.

German visits fall, British arrivals rise

Germany sends 3.23 million tourists, down 1.2% on the same period in 2025. They still account for 32% of Mallorca’s visitors and spend 4,490 million euros, more than the British visitors in the figures Vich gives. He says German demand has not met hoteliers’ expectations.

Britain sends 1.75 million tourists, up 6.5%. Vich says holidaymakers are looking more closely at the cost of a trip and leaving booking decisions until later.

More flights, but no firm forecast for 2027

Vich calls the season solid, but says stronger competition will demand more work from hoteliers in 2027. He is also concerned that world events could affect aviation fuel prices and, in turn, the cost of package holidays. It is too early for a firm forecast, he says.

For winter 2026–2027, airlines have scheduled 7.98 million seats at Palma airport on Mallorca, 6% more than the previous winter. Vich sees a chance to bring more trips outside the main season, though he says long-haul routes will last only if they attract demand.
