Balearic Gold Medal and Ramon Llull: 15 December cut-off
In the Balearic Islands, nominations for the 2027 Gold Medal and Ramon Llull Prize open on Friday and close on 15 December. The Balearic Government has approved the rules for both honours. They appeared in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands on Thursday, 29 October 2026.
Two prizes for different achievements
The Gold Medal recognises people or organisations whose work has supported the islands’ institutions and wider interests and gained particular attention beyond the Balearics. The Ramon Llull Prize honours contributions made within the islands, including work in culture, sport, law, business, research, education and language.
The president of the Balearic Government will present the honours at a ceremony held alongside Balearic Islands Day commemorations.
Who can be nominated
Public bodies, associations, organisations representing economic or social interests, and individuals can put forward candidates. Each prize needs a separate nomination because it recognises different work.
Candidates cannot nominate themselves. An organisation cannot nominate someone who sits on its governing body. Serving state authorities, except the King, and serving Balearic authorities cannot receive either honour. People with a final criminal conviction are also ineligible. Nominations close on 15 December.
