Granada stadium inspection ordered before Mallorca match
Granada CF has ordered a structural inspection of Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes in Granada before its home match against RCD Mallorca on 24 August. Specialist technicians will assess the ground after a series of earthquakes in the city.
The club said it had commissioned the checks with Granada City Council to confirm that the stadium still meets the required safety standards ahead of the Segunda División fixture, which starts at 21.30.
Since 14 August, 432 seismic events have been recorded in Granada. Two measured magnitude 4.8 Mw, while 45 tremors were felt by residents.
The Mallorca game will be Granada's first home fixture of the season and its second match overall, following a goalless draw with Real Oviedo. The club said the safety of everyone attending was its priority and urged residents to follow advice from authorities and official sources.
