Mallorca hosts health exams as 1,331 vie for 328 jobs
Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, hosts one of three exam centres on Sunday, 18 October, as 1,331 candidates compete for 328 permanent public health jobs. Tests also take place on Menorca and Eivissa. The Balearic health ministry says the vacancies cover five types of job, including family doctors, emergency doctors, pharmacists, neurosurgeons and hospital porters.
On Mallorca, candidates sit their exams in the Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos building at the University of the Balearic Islands. The other exam centres are IES Cap de Llevant on Menorca and IES Sa Blanca Dona on Eivissa.
The exams are part of a larger recruitment round for 3,220 permanent posts across 97 job categories. Of those posts, 2,712 are open to outside applicants and 508 will be filled through internal promotion. Seven per cent are reserved for people with disabilities. The Balearic Health Service says it wants to cut temporary employment in the public health system and give staff more stable jobs.
Candidates cannot use mobile phones or other electronic devices during the exams. Devices needed for health reasons are allowed if candidates tell the person in charge of the room beforehand.
