Mallorca hospitals: 37 trainees start placements

Thirty-seven vocational health students have begun Mallorca hospital placements at Son Llàtzer and Joan March for the 2026-2027 school year. They joined on 8 September. Thirty-five are taking the nursing care-assistance course, while two are studying diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine.

The Balearic Islands Health Ministry said they are the first students placed at the two hospitals during this course. The group comes from eight training centres on Mallorca: CC Es Liceu, IES Josep M. Llompart, IES Marratxí, CIFP Francesc de Borja Moll, CPFP Creu Roja, CC La Salle Palma, Centro Luis Vives and CPFP CESUR.

In the hospitals, the students will move through different units and services, putting classroom learning into practice and seeing how healthcare teams work each day. They will develop skills linked to their courses, including procedures, technical knowledge, teamwork and communication with patients and professionals.

Staff at Son Llàtzer and Joan March will guide and supervise the trainees. The two hospitals are continuing their work with Mallorca’s vocational-training centres to give future health professionals practical experience.
