Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

The Balearic Islands face heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday that could cause localised flooding and disrupt travel. Homes, shops and infrastructure could also be affected. Allianz said on Friday, 16 October 2026, that it had put its customer support and claims teams on alert ahead of the forecast weather.

Forecasts point to persistent rain, particularly in coastal and near-coastal areas of the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community and Catalonia. Authorities have warned that rainfall could build up to significant levels. The forecast does not single out Mallorca.

Allianz has also alerted its assessors and assistance providers. It says some damage claims can be assessed using photos or videos sent from a mobile phone, and it will adjust its resources as the weather develops. Its free number for questions about the weather and related claims is 900 101 920.

The insurer advises people to follow official updates and authorities’ instructions, particularly when travelling through areas that could flood or parking where water may collect.
