Mallorca could face heavy rain from Saturday, 17 October, bringing a risk of flooding if downpours hit. Rain across the Balearic Islands may grow heavier in the afternoon and evening and could last into Sunday. Spain’s General Secretariat for Civil Protection and Emergencies issued the warning based on forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency, but says it is still unclear where the rain will fall or how much there will be.

Rain could continue on Sunday

The forecast follows several settled days with unusually high temperatures. Moist air moving towards coastal areas could bring heavy, prolonged rain, while temperatures are expected to fall more widely. The most likely forecast puts significant rain over the Balearics and Mediterranean coastal areas on Sunday, though officials stress that the outlook remains uncertain.

Keep clear of flooded roads

Civil protection advises drivers to use main roads and motorways during heavy rain and not to park in areas that could flood. It says no one should cross a flooded stretch, whether on foot or in a vehicle, and urges people to stay away from rivers, streams and low-lying ground. If moving water surrounds a car, its occupants should leave it and head for higher ground.
