Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, faces a wetter weekend: heavy showers could develop across parts of the islands from Saturday afternoon and continue into Monday. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says rain could be locally heavy on Saturday. Its spokesman, Rubén del Campo, gave the forecast on Thursday, 15 October 2026.

Rain builds from Saturday

Thursday is relatively quiet, though showers could reach the Balearics. An isolated shower is also possible on Friday afternoon. By Saturday, rain is expected to spread, with locally heavy falls on the islands.

Sunday storms could be stronger

A weather disturbance approaching Spain from northern Europe, together with moist winds from the Mediterranean, could bring very heavy showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. Del Campo says the heaviest rain is most likely in the Balearics and parts of Spain’s Mediterranean coast, but it remains unclear exactly where it will fall. Rain near the coast could even be torrential.

Heavy rain may continue in parts of the Balearics on Monday. Showers are still possible on Tuesday, but are expected to ease as temperatures rise.
